UPDATE (9/22/15): System Shock is no longer available on Abandonia. However, the good news is that it has officially been re-released on GOG and includes the mod mentioned in this video. For more information, check out its GOG page at http://www.gog.com/game/system_shock_enhanced_edition.

Although System Shock 2 is now available on GOG and is widely recognized as one of the best PC games of all time, even leading to the creation of the wildly popular BioShock franchise, the original game is very good, too. Unfortunately, it is no longer sold in stores or supported by its copyright holder(s) and is therefore considered "abandonware." As a result, you can download and play it for free.

Since System Shock is a DOS game, it can be difficult to get it running on modern operating systems. This is where D-Fend Reloaded, an excellent front-end for DOSBox, a DOS emulator, comes into play. This video walks you through the steps of installing and setting up D-Fend and creating a custom System Shock profile that you can use to play the game on any modern Windows operating system.
