Tails Noir: Rebel Rush - All Levels speedrun in 9:44
2Over the last weekend, there was a challenge on speedrun.com with prize money for this category. I pretty quickly made peace with the fact that I wasn't gonna make the top 3 to win any of the prizes when I saw how numerous and strong the competition would be, but I was still invested to try to get a clean run of the game. My approach was to aim for a clean run with easy strats first before I would worry about doing anything risky. Unfortunately, I have a very bad track record with LTA (limited time attack) competitions, and I was mental blocked like crazy, which caused me to not be able to get runs, even when taking it as safe as I was. Even if none of the strats are difficult on their own, this game has a strange power to take matters into its own hands and find new ways to kill your run if it can smell the fear in you. Combined with my unshaken ability to not pay attention to what I'm doing, this proved to be a losing combination destined to make me lose my mind. In the challenge I was able to get a 10:14, that had one major reset on Slide. But now that the challenge is over and I took like 2 or 3 days off from playing this, my mind is finally at ease enough that I can do runs without feeling like I'm Mr. Bean controlling his yellow Mini from the top of its roof. I wouldn't say I'm done with this now, but it feels good to finally get that checked off. For the future, my focus with this game will definitely be individual levels though, as I think I enjoy that much more.
