The Tajik Eagle Nurullo Aliev has officially arrived in the UFC after earning a unanimous decision victory over Rafael Alves in his UFC debut. There was some controversy in the first round as referee Mark Smith took a point away from Nurullo for an alleged biting of the fingers but Nurullo says his opponent Rafael was sticking his fingers in his mouth. Nurullo also showed his ability to deal with adversity escaping several guillotine chokes from Rafael throughout the fight, a defense that he said he spent the majority of his camp working on. He also says he is looking forward to getting married back home in Tajikistan after his first UFC victory.
