Tale Of A Wolf - Kickstarter Project
Tale of a Wolf is a story-driven, open-world adventure! But this time you control a wolf called Ako. Explore a beautifully crafted, hand-painted world!.
EXPERIENCE THE LIFE OF A WOLF:
You take control of a young wolf named Ako. Born on the island of Sylvanna, you have learned much of the ways of the world from your father. However, there is still much to learn. Ako, a naive canine discovers this abruptly as he meets mankind for the first time and sees their wicked ways for himself. You will have to survive the wildlands and reclaim the island to restore the natural balance of the diverse ecosytem on Sylvanna.
THE STORY IS YOURS TO TELL:
Set in the beautiful isles of Sylvanna, the time of tranquility is over, man has landed on the shores and they are setting up camps all over the island. You can stalk your human prey and take them down silently one by one. Or if you wish, use the power of fire to burn down the encampments sprawled across the land.
GAMEPLAY:
The game starts when you are a small cub, you will play the tutorial section as a very young Ako. He looks really cute when he is young. You will learn the basic mechanics at this time.
Ako is learning the ways of hunting from his father when he encounters a human for the first time, a disturbing event occurs. Ako’s father is killed by a soldier who is scouting the land, that soldier will chase you – you must escape to complete the tutorial, the scene ends up with Ako being stranded alone.
The game then fast forwards 6 months in time and at this point the island is full of human encampments. There are mountains that limit the play area, but I have added cave systems to make the traversable region much bigger!
Ako is now fully grown and has a deep hatred for man!
Being an open world you can decide how you clear the island of the humans that are coming from the shores. You can use stealthy kills and take them out one by one, you can just use fire and burn down their camps – tents burnt by fire remain destroyed in the game, or you can just attack them head on with bite attacks if your stats are high enough.
There will be many side missions from NPC animals that you can decide to help – they will tell stories of how the humans have affected their habitat and how you can help fix it. There are 6 sectors, each have their own difficulty, that is the main limiting factor to progression. Ako will be able to kill animals to restore hunger, but it is not a main part of the game – the player is encouraged to help other animals and only eat when they absolutely have to.
There is one main camp that will be the typical end game – you will need to level up high enough to beat the soldiers in that base. That camp will have the soldier that killed Ako’s father inside it and you will have to kill him in order to complete the game and get the achievement.
Of course, it is now common knowledge that the value of a Kickstarter goes way beyond the amount of money raised during the campaign; it also makes for the best early feedback loop anyone can hope for. Again, the developers are committed to this project, all they ask for is confirmation that ‘Tale Of A Wolf’ is something you want to play.
