In Greek mythology, Talos, also spelled Talus (; Greek: Τάλως, Tálōs) or Talon (; Greek: Τάλων, Tálōn), was a giant automaton made of bronze to protect Europa in Crete from pirates and invaders. He circled the island's shores three times daily.
