2A surprise 2nd place for me this week. Surprising as the game is really difficult & making a pattern where you can shoot enemies from the front is a lot tougher than it seems. The closer you are to an enemy, the more they are worth & shooting enemies from the front is worth a lot more than shooting them from behind or the sides.
A close frontal shot is worth 800 points. Occasionally you would see 1600 points for a close frontal shot. This doesn't seem well documented & I didn't learn of it's existence until it was shared on Hamster's livestream but if the 7th enemy you shoot would normally give 800pts, it will give 1600 instead. Now the next enemies on that stage that are in multiples of 7 will also score 1600 if defeated with a close range frontal shot. If you fail the 1st 1600pt shot, later enemies in the stage will not grant the hidden bonus. It's OK if you die though & the counting continues, so if you kill enemies by any means, die, then shoot the next enemy with a frontal close shot, it will still give 1600
Had I known this in advance, I would have gone out of my way to ensure I earned the 1600 bonuses.as much as possible but as you are trying for close range frontal kills as much as possible anyway, I still got a few despite not knowing the exact reason
So essentially I tried to have a couple of patterns for the 1st couple of stages to get close frontal kills as much as possible before mainly focusing on clearing stage 3 quickly with a lot of 300pt close range, non-frontal kills, for speed & safety. Lining up shots on stage 3 is especially tricky as your movement is done in half-block movement & you need to be directly aligned with an enemy for your shot to hit. If they're not hugging a wall, it's tough to be perfectly lined up so I just rush into them from the side for an easy shot
I didn't have much time to make a pattern for st.4 but as enemies only spawn from the top 2 corners, I just head up there & try to shoot anything that moves in the remaining time
