First TAS I publish. This is the vanilla EPC version of Tomb Raider 2 running on a PC emulator. It would be faster with other versions of the game but not as cool. I don't plan to run the full game but I'll try to do more TAS tests. This run is done with libTAS 1.4.1 and PCem 17+st-1. It's emulating a Pentium II-233 Mhz, 128 Mb of RAM, a 3dfx Voodoo 2 + S3 Virge DX, CD drive x72, Windows Millenium, 640*480 (upscaled for Youtube). Here are some notes about the run.
I played without music because as you may know when playing vanilla the game freezes half a second every time a music track plays. There's a good explanation on speedrun dot com by Darenk why freezes don't happen with the crack and the music fix.
At 0:18 This is a glitchless glitch (forward+roll). It's faster for EPC but not for other versions.
At 0:21 The old ledge grab is faster because I'm coming from below. I spent a lot of time trying to jump the glitchless way but I only succeeded in EPC when jumping backwards which may indicate that it's a corner bug.
At 0:30 It's faster to jump because you fall faster than after rolling. I may have lost some time because I turned too much in the previous glitch and it messed with the jump sequence.
At 0:38 The qwop can only skip the door in EPC.
At 1:10 I couldn't find anything better than the current jump sequence and glitchless glitch. I took it from Eycore, I don't know if he did it first.
At 1:27 This a Woops bug (regular jump).
At 2:01 I guess fabi9812 first kept the flare to cancel a step in shallow water. After finishing the run I think it would save a bit more time to cancel a stumble instead.
At 2:59 It's slower to go this way without a qwop. In a regular run it's faster to do running jumps in the flat part on the left. The qwop took me 1h30 with save states so it's unlikely to happen in a real run and very risky. Troye may have been the first to do it, I'm not sure. Maybe Apel or someone else.
At 3:06 I skip that screen as fast as possible but this is vanilla.
At 3:09 The triple sound is because I cut the recording too fast. For some reason that jump in midair would be allowed in glitchless.
