The solution is to clean the contacts on the cam that senses where the head is at. The contacts get dirty, and then the machine doesn't know where the head is (up or down) and spins the cam to try and find itself, bouncing the head in the process until a connection is made.
Simple fix, use a cotton swab and some alcohol and carefully clean the contacts.
