Tchia : A Gorgeous Open-World Adventure
As you all know, I absolutely love indie games and I do my best to spotlight ones that are worth our while. So today we are checking out Tchia. The second I saw this game I knew I would play it as soon as it was released. Fortunately for all of us, it's actually part of the new PlayStation plus extra and premium plans, so if you're subscribed to either one of these be sure to pick up the game now... I mean, you're already paying for it after all. If not, you can pick up the game for $29.99 right now. The only thing I knew from the first time I saw the game is that you play as a little girl and that you can spirit shift into animals and other objects within the game and that's enough for me to check it out. It's one of the things I like most about indie games. While I'm sure there are other games you where you can take control of random objects the total number of them is few and far between. But that's the beauty of indie games, they do things and have game mechanics that are not common in other mainstream games.
One thing you will learn about the game from the very beginning is that the game is made and developed by a small team whose cofounders are from a small island called New Caledonia. Tchia is meant to represent their culture and love for their homeland. The culture, music, and landscapes of this island inspire the game. Doing a quick search for time on the game, it looks like you can expect to complete the game in around 6 - 8 hours which fits nicely into my gaming schedule. I have played about the first hour or so of the game so far and man is it a good-looking game. The first hour or so is basically your tutorial showing how the game is played while delivering the initial story of the game and what your mission will be throughout most of it.
I expect this game to be a mix of Breath Of the Wild, A short Hike and Lil Gator game, which is all good by me. Breath of the wild is of course a great game and both Lil Gator Game and A Short Hike are fantastic indies. So if this does turn out to be the case I'm all for it. One thing some gamers may want to know is not to expect huge combat sections all the time. While there will be some combat in Tchia, the game is meant to be a family-friendly game. This means that it's more about completing the story, exploring, and collecting items. In the area where there is combat, you should expect it to be fun with no gore or anything like that.
I'm really looking forward to playing and completing Tchia and it does look like this could be an attainable platinum for those of you who care about things like that. If you're still not convinced about whether or not you want to pick up Tchia for yourself, you can join us on stream This Monday and Tuesday as we try to complete the game. The link is in the description and with all that said, I'll see you all next time.
