Mokujin is a character in the Tekken series of fighting games. He was first introduced in Tekken 3, then reappeared in Tekken 5 and Tekken 6, as well as a few spin-off titles.
His absence is duplicitous if you think about it. He is supposed to wake up only when a great evil is threatening the world (Ogre, Jinpachi, Azazel, Unknown, etc). The fact that he didn't bother waking up during Tekken 7 means that Akuma, Heihachi, and Kazuya are bad villains not worthy of Mokujin's attention.
Mokujin (木人 Wooden person?) is a character in the Tekken series of fighting games. It is a spiritually sensitive animated training dummy and serves as a guardian of good against supernatural evil threats. Mokujin was first introduced in Tekken 3, then reappeared in Tekken 5 and Tekken 6, as well as making various appearances in spin-off titles Tekken Card Challenge, Tekken Tag Tournament, crossover games Namco X Capcom and Project X Zone 2, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken Revolution, and Tekken (Mobile).
Mokujin is a wooden training dummy, constructed from white oak over 2000 years ago for martial artists to practice their abilities upon. A relic from the past, Mokujin was displayed in a museum until, one day, the God of Fighting awoke, bringing an intense evil into the world. This awakening also awoke Mokujin, causing it to develop a mind of its own and start moving. Mokujin left the museum in order to aid the martial artists of today in their battle of good over evil by entering the third King of Iron Fist Tournament. When Ogre was vanquished and the evil was defeated, Mokujin returned to sleep and was returned to the museum.
Mokujin's rest was short-lived, however, as the emergence of a new evil once again awoke Mokujin from its slumber. Mokujin entered the fifth tournament to aid in the fight against Jinpachi Mishima and, once again, returned to its resting place at the museum upon the defeat of Jinpachi. The cycle was repeated a third time when global conflict, initiated by Jin Kazama, caused the awakening of another evil being, known as Azazel. When Azazel was defeated, Mokujin returned to its as-yet-uninterrupted slumber.
According to Wang Jinrei, Mokujin's legend states that: "When the world teeters on the brink of chaos, it shall appear" while Kuma refers to him as the "messenger of the gods". According to its dialogue with Azazel during the Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign, Mokujin serves the "great will" and acts as its agent whenever he is activated.
As a non-living entity, Mokujin shows little in the way of personality. When it is shown in social situations, Mokujin seems to be a very jovial and kind-hearted being, likely due to their desire to restore peace to the land animating Mokujin with a good soul.
During the Scenario Campaign, Mokujin wonders why people would be surprised at seeing a sentient dummy, much less be able to communicate with one telepathically.[6] Although Mokujin often enjoys seeing the growth and power of humans, it is aghast at humanity's decisions to eat up nature's resources for private profit. Mokujin also speaks with an archaic tone.
Due to Mokujin's long life, it is aware of many past and present legends and global threats and has knowledge, for example, of Azazel's ancient life as a god.
Mokujin is a wooden training dummy with a long cut-off branch for a nose, and a single green shoot bearing two leaves sprouting from its head.
