Tekken 8 Main Story As A First Time Player | Tekken 8 Gaming
1I have watched Tekken tournaments for a few years, but this is the first time I have played a fighting game that isn't on the Nintendo 64. My prior experience is using a D-Pad and A and B buttons, so this game about doubles the amount of input buttons. What I was surprised about the most is the lack of instructional elements/tutorial within the story mode. It starts off by asking if I want an easy, medium, or hard gameplay, but that doesn't equate to newbie, experienced, and veteran gameplay. While the game does provide you with the O Button setting to auto combo for you, it feels like cheating because it does complex inputs when the player presses 1 button. It feels great, but you know you aren't actually making those attacks happen.
Pros:
Movie had great cohesion between the chapters
Player is introduced to different types of fighters
Good balance between single, double, and triple round fights
Lots of resting time for my hands between sessions
Fun Gundam mode towards the middle end of the story
Cons:
Some characters really did not fit my play style and it was hard to figure out how they play even when repeatedly dying
There is no character move set that can be seen when paused (this is an offline story mode)
Sus Takes:
This only took me about 4.5 hours as a brand new player dying a lot, but the game is meant to be played multiplayer online, so maybe this story mode is actually really long. I haven't played other fighting games, so I don't know how other games compare.
I wasn't able to stick with a character other than Jin, but that makes sense since this is his story.
