Tempest gameplay (Arcade)
Just some gameplay of the arcade classic Tempest. HISTORY: Tempest was initially supposed to be a first-person Space Invaders called Vortex. However, due to all the problems (including the fact it apparently caused motion sickness, as the playfield moved instead of the player) early versions of the game had, a new design ended up being used. The designer and programmer of Tempest, David Theurer, got the idea for the game from a nightmare he had in which monsters crawled out of a hole in the ground. This led to him coining the design concept, stating he "basically just took Space Invaders and wrapped the surface into a circle," while monsters "come down the tunnel at you, out of the hole, and you try to kill them before they get out"
