Tennis Pro 92 - SuperVision Sports game - Double Fault or Ace?
I hope you are all healthy & well wherever you are in the World
I've always loved the more obscure systems and games - systems that ape others or in a parallel universe may have been the popular system .This is the SuperVision by Taiwanese company Watara although they licenced it to other companies such as Hartung, QuickShot, Vini and others Released in 1992 to compete with Nintendo's GameBoy it has similar specs but with a bigger screen and the original model had a unique hinged design and also had a rare peripheral that pre-dated the Super GameBoy but had a similar function of allowing the games to play on your television.
This is Tennis Pro 92 on SuperVision. I'm a fan of tennis games generally - its a sport that works well in videogame form - from the early days of Pong which was essentially a primitive game of Tennis from Smash Tennis on SNES, Pete Sampras Tennis on Megadrive to the brilliant Virtua Tennis series and everything in between. This is a fairly bare bones version of the sport.
I play it terribly here due to playing it through the camera viewfinder however I've never fully clicked with this game. The graphics are nice enough but obviously the ball movement is hampered by the ghosting and blur. The sound is most kindly described as minimal (or possibly abstract - the crowd sounds terrible). The timing on the shots definitely takes some getting used to. It plays ok but there are definitely better tennis games out - especially these days! Theme song is nice in terms of finding something positive.
It is hard to film the screen and get a decent picture and even harder to do so while trying to play through the viewfinder. Hopefully I don't move the system too much and this gives you a flavour of the game though.
As always if you enjoy this video let me know. As always this is running on original hardware. Also let me know if there are particular games or systems you'd like to see. Or if you would like a longer video of any of the existing games I've shown - I'm limited by the age/speed of my laptop and also my internet connection but happy to try to make something more substantial. I also prefer to let the games do the talking but let me know if you'd like to see more info about gameplay etc
As always this is played on genuine hardware - no emulation.
As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
