Tension rose on Tuesday at Velsao, where railway authorities, backed by heavy machinery and a police presence, began double-tracking work without presenting proper land documentation. The escalation has drawn villagers and local panchayat body to protest at the site leading to RVNL to cease the construction activities at present. The villagers pointed out that officials from the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) have arrived with only measuring tapes rather than detailed plans.The next date for conducting the demarcation has been verbally agreed by all parties for coming Monday at 10:00 am (on Monday 18 November.
