Trapped souls that stay in the same enemy are great ways for easy healing when you release them. Helps conserve healing bulbs for later. Just try not to get poisoned.

Also interesting to note, first time playing I didn't even know that those grey husk pods were actually treasure chests. It took me a while to figure that out in addition to being able to pick up the red ones.
