Okay... this is gonna be a long one, so get ready
First of all, happy belated new year! I hope this year is going well for everyone, and if not, that it will get better
I wanna start by saying, thank you so much to everyone who has joined me on this incredible journey, watched my videos, subscribed, and left wonderful comments. And to my amazing friends, I truly could not have done this without you :)
Now, time to address the big question: am I quitting?
Yes.
... and no.
Let's start at the beginning, shall we? I made this channel a bit over a year ago. I was obsessed with Pokemon and AMVs, and struggling to find my place among my friends and classmates. I started this channel as a way to channel this new interest, express my love for Pokemon, and most importantly, as an outlet for myself when life got rough. (This is relevant later)
I went through plenty of ups and downs, but over the course of a year plus, YouTube became a huge part of my life. I made so many new friends who finally shared my interests of Pokemon and editing! But then, I uploaded the Eeveelution singing videos. To my surprise, they blew up, and of course, being the naive teenager I was, I was excited seeing the numbers rise. However, I eventually realized, that was a turn for the worst. I used to open up my notifications and see comments talking about how my latest video made them smile, or from friends wanting to have a fun chat. But after I made those Eeveelution singing videos, most of my comments came from those, and so many of them were people being rude and criticizing my opinions on the Eeveelutions' genders(which side note; shouldn't even be a debate! All eeveelutions can be either, can we just leave it at that? TwT)
My channel quickly gained subscribers, but when I uploaded other videos, they just didn't get the same type of attention. Maybe some of you can relate, but when you have one particular video do really well, anything you upload before and after that, just doesn't perform the same. I used to constantly tell myself that views and subscribers don't matter, as long as I'm having fun, but after seeing how high the numbers could go, I found myself getting lost in that.
Around the same time, I started losing interest in Pokemon. I started reading and watching other series, and was starting to get bored throughout Sun and Moon and Journeys. And then, when Ash left, I kinda lost all attachment and interest in the Pokemon anime. I started making edits of other shows, like Haikyuu!!, Blue Lock, and Demon Slayer, but they didn't do as well. It became very clear that most of my subscribers(not all, but a good chunk) are here only for Pokemon content, and more specifically, Eeveelution content.
As some of you also know, I started an art channel a while back, but editing and school have kept me from developing it much. I didn't have a clear vision for what I wanted on that channel, and I redid it so many times that it just isn't gonna work. Same with this channel, and Meowchiro. I became known for one thing, and not what I wanted
I thought long and hard about it, and now that I'm in high school, I want to go back to having an outlet on YT, not having another thing to stress about. I want a fresh start, so that's exactly what I'm doing. I am starting three new channels, one for art, one for anime edits(main probably), and one for Pokemon, with no affiliation to my past ones, with the exception of the links I will put in this video description ♡
Side note: the name of these channels may not be official yet but I'll keep you all updated! In the coming weeks or so, I'll probably work on banners and pfps for all of them. In addition, my channel for MEP parts, Pudding Cat, will stay the same. I don't have any intention of uploading frequently, especially on Soda Pop, but I'll try :]
