#thathack Walkthrough - Part 1
#thathack is the seventh romhack in my archive, but there's a twist to this one. It was sent in to a special level design contest in which the point was to make a 12 level hack following every given level theme, thus explaining some of the more unexpected levels the hack pulls out. Being a contest entry, it's generally far easier than other instalments of levelenginekiosk. Also, this hack is much shorter than Way of the M. In fact, it's all done in this video and the next.
0:23 Night Vatch: The grassland level. Aside from the one Dragon Coin at 0:47, this level is extremely easy. Just remember when things like this used to be challenging, and laugh.
1:44 Good Old Days: The level styled to be like of the NES SMB games (I chose the first Super Mario Brothers). Just run right and play through it, since there's nothing out of the ordinary to mention.
2:53 Drink and Drown: The cave with water. The main obstacle here really is the dolphins. Time your jumps off of the dolphins to not land on the Munchers, and you should be fine.
5:08 The Gold is Mine: The gold mine level. It starts out pretty normal, until you get to the darker second half. Just look ahead every so often with caution to try and see whatever's hiding in the dark to beat the level, but getting all of the Dragon Coins will require more effort, since these coins can blend in with the ground since the level's so dark!
7:17 Cinder Boulevard: The outdoors with lava level. A very simple go right level, that pretty much all you need to do is just that.
8:39 Starry Night: The sky level at night. The biggest threats are Bullet Bills and Pitchin' Chucks. There are also a few Amazing Hammer Brothers flying around, but even then they're not that deadly. Just wait for the right time to stomp the Chucks and it'll be easy.
10:08 Hall of Dimension: The dimensional vortex/alternate dimension level. I'm willing to bet that nobody was expecting this, a castle that got torn to shreds by a chaotic vortex. The level uses Puntin' Chucks, and there's usually a lot more strategy put into passing them, especially with all the added Bullet Bill cannons. You can say that this level is where the more challenging part of the hack begins.
