The Nazgûl, initially known as Black Riders and also referred to as Ringwraiths, Dark Riders, the Nine Riders, or simply the Nine, are mythical entities in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. These individuals were a group of nine men who had been overcome by Sauron's influence after wearing Rings of Power. These rings granted them eternal life but also transformed them into invisible wraiths, enslaved to the power of the One Ring and fully under Sauron's dominion.
