A new mod completely updates the 1994 TIE Fighter title with new graphics, widescreen support, new missions and more
Of the countless Star Wars video games, 1994's TIE Fighter remains one of the most beloved classics,allowing fans to fight in space battles between the Empire and the Rebels,as well as eliminating pirates and traitors. Something similar to what we've seen with Squadrons, but 25 years before.
Well, after a quarter of a century of history, a new mod completely updates the TIE Fighter title with new graphics, support for widescreen, new missions and much more. The result is an updated game that, as the team responsible for the mod says, imagines "what tie fighter could have been like if the technology of the time had not limited it ".
Developed by the TIE Fighter Total Conversion team, this new mod comes with a fairly considerable list of updates,and even some changes that could catch the game's staunchest fans by surprise. Roughly speaking, what they've done is take the TIE Fighter and carry it with the 1999 X-Wing: Alliance engine.
Being a different engine, it means that it is something different and noticeably more difficult than the original, since the enemy AI is better, the lasers go faster, etc... In addition to the original campaign's 13 battles and training missions, the mod team has also "reimagined" 8 battles from the campaign to include more ships and, in some cases, completely new missions, while retaining the story points. This translates into 145 unique missions between the classic and reimagined versions. And if all this seemed like little to you, it also includes the Defender of the Empire and Enemies of the Empireexpansion packs, and support for VR.
