The 1st 15: Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad

"Refreshingly realistic in its portrayal of WWII-era arms and equipment, Red Orchestra 2 has won me over hands down as one of the most well orchestrated combat simulations on the market. It manages to strike that elusive balance between entertaining gameplay and faithfulness to historical accuracy.
I know I didn't reach any stage of gameplay beyond the tutorial in this video, but rest assured, more is on the way tomorrow, and it only gets better from here! My only real criticism of the game, other than its rather dated visuals (then again, the game did release in 2011), is that in-game, there is very little direction or narrative, more or less stranding players on the battlefield after the mission briefs. Then again, that's actually rather thematically appropriate, so I'm hesitant to even levy that as a criticism. All told, this game has instantly earned a place amongst my favorite military shooters of all time."

The 1st 15, our first impressions series, is quite simply the first fifteen minutes of my time with a game, for what that's worth; no more, no less. First impressions go a long way in setting the tone for how well a game is received by its audience, and even a good game can turn away potential fans if it can't hook them in its earliest moments. That said, this should not be treated as a comprehensive review; it represents my very first impressions of the game only; nothing more, nothing less.
