The MG5 represents an exciting new chapter in MG's history. This five-door hatchback was developed at MG Birmingham under the UK Design Director, Tony Williams-Kenny. The new model was recently unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show, where it received much critical acclaim.

Codenamed AP12, it shares the same automotive platform with the Roewe 350 saloon car. Engine options are expected to include a 100 bhp 1.5 L four-cylinder engine, plus a 1.8 L 133 bhp (99 kW; 135 PS), most likely the TCI-Tech (Upgraded K-Series engine) 1.8 L engine with 133 bhp (99 kW; 135 PS) used in the MG6 GT.
