The Best SpongeBob Villain Ever!
An argument for the best villain ever in SpongeBob SquarePants. Despite being a cartoon based on the antics of a plucky, yellow sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants has its fair share of villains. From the nefarious krabby patty stealing schemes of Sheldon J. Plankton to the spooky howls of the Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob has his hands full with evil doers. Most of the villains that fill out SpongeBob’s cast of background antagonists are part of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy’s roque’s gallery. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy being retired superheroes that SpongeBob and Patrick look up to and watch reruns of their TV show. So, we have villains like the Dirty Bubble, the Atomic Flounder, and Man Ray. But none of these villains are the best villain of SpongeBob. The best villain is the Moth that appeared in "Night Light." And here’s why.
The Moth is the best villain in SpongeBob history because he is an imposing villain that has a rivalry with Mermaid Man and SpongeBob, has impressive superpowers, and accomplishes his goal in only one attempt. Ominous music plays when the Moth enters SpongeBob’s pineapple house, letting you know that he is a force to be reckoned with. Mermaid Man confirms this when he says that the Moth is his “most dangerous and foreboding of all (his) arch nemeses.” He then refers to the Moth as “My mortal enemy whom I have searched 57 years for!” You know it’s serious business when Mermaid Man has been looking for a villain for over half of a century. While Mermaid Man has aged, the Moth is still in peak physical condition, unlike other villains. The Moth is such a threatening opponent that Mermaid Man needs the help of SpongeBob to even get a chance at capturing this winged foe. Yes, true to his name, the Moth has the power of flight. And when SpongeBob locks him in a lighthouse, the Moth shows impressive physical strength by lifting the Lighthouse and SpongeBob’s house along with it off into the night. Surely this is a villain not to take lightly. He takes away what is precious from our heroes; he steals the light, leaving only the darkness. And not to forget that he is voiced by Mark Hamill.
