This is a complete boondocks reviews for the boondocks tv series

So it’s been 15 years since my initial watch of the boondocks.
I’ll never forget that summer in 2007 when my dude james put me on.
Aaron Mcgruder’s classic adult cartoon came off as a funny ignorant show for negros on the surface..
but when you peel back the layers and get to the ground root of what was REALLY being relayed..
This is by far one a the most legendary tools of social commentary of all time.
The legend that is the misadventures of Riley and Huey Freeman and their grandfather,
Reigns supreme within the black community.
Now Before we actually saw the debut of the TV show on adult swim in 05,
Mcgruder actually had a backlog of a decade worth of comic strip content, that dates all the way back to 96’

The strip was published on Hitlist.com, and actually made it’s way to the Source Magazine in 97.

Even back then just being a comic,
the boondocks was already controversial for making a mockery of the black community…
and the politics of america.
At least that’s how it was perceived.
So don’t think it was an instant hit off the rip, cause several publications turned it down at first for being too much on the edgy side.

Eventually the strip found it’s footing, but who honestly cares most of you are here about the TV show right?

Aaron had every intention of getting an animated series for the boondocks pretty much it’s entire lifespan,
it’s just that getting it published as a comic came first in 1999.
It would be 6 years before it would finally get it’s airing.
There were attempts to get a pilot done for the FOX network, but it was hard to water it down at that time and make it suitable for Television.
But in 2005, things finally came to fruition when Mike Lazzo, President of adult swim, gave the green light on a 15 episode first season.

The show was only loosely based on the prior 9 of years content from the comic strip, but still honed the essence of what the boondocks was all about.

Everything about this show was by black consciousness, and for black consciousness.
Starting with it’s opening theme song Judo Flip by Asheru, a conscious hip hop artist aswell as youth activist.
And of course All the episode themes which we’ll touch on later in the video.

So majority of you watching this don’t need an introduction to the show at all.
You got 2 children and their grand father who move out of the projects of Chi Town to white town.
This is for no other purpose but to really hone in on the dynamic between white and black people in America.
So let’s Take an activist kid,
his ignorant wanna be street little brother, and slightly less ignorant but still hella ignorant grandfather..
and drop them into politically correct and conservative and racist woodcrest.
See the possibilities for interesting stories are endless.

Each character plays their role in depicting different character types we are all used to seeing in our community as black people.
And I would say this is where majority of the appeal lies for the show.
In it’s characters.
We all have friends and or family members who represent every single main and recurring character in this show.
Everybody has a father, grandfather, uncle or at least knows somebody with one of these who are just like grand dad.
We all grew up around wanna be thug brothers or friends like riley.
Many of us feel like Huey, and if you don’t feel like huey,
You probably know someone like huey and view that person the same way everyone in the show does huey.
Like a uptight conspiracy theorist nut job.
You see how this all comes together?
Everyone knows an uncle tom,
And no it’s not a coincidence that his name is tom..
The only one character you don’t see everyday is Uncle Ruckus.

Season 2 and 3 of boondocks kinda strayed from its true identity..
And 4 is subhuman.
