The Borax Challenge: Tide Pods Version 2.0
Just when you thought there wouldn’t be any more laundry detergent-based internet challenges after that Tide Pod craze from 2018, suddenly a new one pops up in its place like the two heads that grow back in the place of a single head cut off from the Hydra of Greek mythology.
Just recently, I came across a couple videos and news stories of people resorting to consuming Borax for perceived health benefits to ailments such as joint pain, fatigue and inflammation among other things.
In reality, that is the overall polar opposite.
While Boron is contained within Borax, Boron in food and drinks is safe to consume whereas Boron contained in cleaning products (such as Borax) and pesticides is not.
If not treated by proper medical professionals (such as licensed medical technicians and poison control center specialists), the following can result from consumption of Borax in small or large amounts:
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Irritation of the stomach and any other gastrointestinal tracts connected to it
* Damage to the kidneys
* Seizures/Convulsions
* Death
Our bodies are not washing machines, people! There’s a reason why many cleaning products and pesticides state that their products are not for consumption of any kind.
Whoever started this trend of consuming Borax in the first place, you should be ashamed of yourself. If people die as a result of this trend you started, you will be held accountable for what happens to them.
Laundry detergents are meant for cleaning, not for eating.
