The Bristol City1️⃣vs0️⃣Sunderland Watch Along
Sunderland travel to Aston Gate on Saturday afternoon as they face Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship.
Following back-to-back home victories against West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United, the Lads will be looking to record their third successive league win – a feat they have not managed to do since September.
Opposition
Bristol City are currently 15th in the Sky Bet Championship having won seven, drew five and lost nine of their opening 21 fixtures.
The Robins have won just one of their last six matches and have failed to keep a clean sheet in as many games with their last coming at the start of November in a goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers.
Tommy Conway, Sam Bell, and Mark Sykes have each scored four goals, the latter firing in their midweek defeat against Blackburn Rovers.
The hosts have struggled in front of goal this term, scoring just 22 goals all season – only Stoke City, Huddersfield Town, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United have found the net on fewer occasions.
At the opposite end of the pitch, Liam Manning’s side boasts one of the division's strongest defences having conceded just 24 goals all season - only Sunderland, Leicester City, Leeds United and West Brom hold a tighter defensive line.
The Black Cats claimed all three points on their last visit to Ashton Gate – an Ellis Simms brace and a Ross Stewart goal sealing the win.
Team News
Mike Dodds has confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Bristol City on Saturday.
Jenson Seelt has recovered from a minor issue picked up against Leeds but will be fit to face Bristol City. Dennis Cirkin and Aji Alese remain unavailable as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.
Jay Matete and Timothee Pembele have returned to first team training, but the game will come too soon for the pair.
