Just a very rambly video about the sexuality flipping of Rugrats character Betty. In the original cartoon, she was a masculine woman and feminist who was happily married to a man. In the soon to be released remake, they have made her lesbian, and it’s unknown how her husband Howard will factor into her story, assuming he is there at all.

I find it very interesting that they chose to make Betty Lez, instead of Bisexual or Pansexual, which would make her LGBTQ, but still provide an opportunity for a heterosexual romance between her and Howard. I also cover how lazy, uncreative representation ultimately hurts the goal of more representation and increased visibility.
