The Curse of Silvanus Punished by the Dungeon Master Or Players Getting What They Deserve | GM 911
Another Game Master has asked for our opinion about something that happened during and adventure.
Original Post-
I have a question concerning divine intervention from the DM. Recently two of my players characters have ventured into an ancient forest while the rest of the party resupplied in a nearby town. Both of them were disrespectful of the woods and were really just looking for food (specifically meat). One of them the deep gnome ranger, tracked a giant elk and befriended it. He lured it to the other character in camp and they both tried to kill it. Unbeknownst to them the elk could understand common and sylvan and so ran when the other character noted it looked tasty and so escaped with only a bolt in its side. I read about how giant elks are very rare and are usually a sign of an important event and that hunting can invoke the wrath of a God. I've decided to make up a curse for the two of them that can't be removed by conventional means. Only the deity who placed it or a wish spell can remove it.
I'd like to know if you think this is going too far with power as a DM or if you think it's fine or even if I should change the curse a bit. Here is said curse as how I've written to give them in our next session.
Curse of Sylvanus
You have provoked the wrath of Sylvanus God of Wild Nature. You are cursed with his marking scent. All creatures within the "beast" category can automatically detect you within a 2 kilometer radius and are hostile towards you. This is a divine power and cannot be removed by conventional means. Only Sylvanus himself or a wish spell can remove this curse.
