Part 1 of the multipart series on the history of video games. Here we'll be looking at the very early days of video gaming: how they arose as a concept, who the first developers were, and why the 1950's and the Cold War period immediately after World War 2 was so important for the advancement of computers...and by extension, video games.

Some of the games explored in this segment will be Tennis for Two by William Higinbothom, OXO by Sandy Douglas, Draughts by Christopher Strachey, Turochamp by Alan Turing, and Bertie the Brain by Joseph Katz of the Rogers Vacuum Tube Company.

Special consideration to Ahoy, whose video "The First Video Game" was essential to my research. If you haven't seen that video yet, please take a look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHQ4WCU1WQc&ab_channel=Ahoy
