Conversation options replace sentences but never change tone, atmosphere, or reactions of NPCs. If I talk down on some NPC, I want that NPC to remember and change its dialogue throghout the rest of the scene or even in the next ones. Not just replace two senctences and then loop back to their script.

Scene 1 (Scanner): Whatever the player did, it did not impact the scene in any way. No failing possible.

Scene 2 (Hotel Staff): Sentences change, but the staff looped back at the end and even when being super rude did not change her tone. Again, the game did not let me fail.

Scene 3 (Doll): Looped back and gave me what I wanted, no failstate.

Scene 4 (Judy): Lots of exposition which enhances the scene, but the lack of failstate loops the scene back to the script and your behavior in the conversation is never brought up again.

For the failstate, Judy could just tell you to get lost but you could loot the cigar box anyway and go there without her knowing, giving her new dialogue once she finds out about it.

Scene 5 (Punk): So many options but it boils down to GETTING ACCESS or FIGHTING. Why not have an option where they won't let you in and you have to innitiate the fight or find the side entraces? Or they want you to buy something from the dealer neaby for them, which shows up the mission right after, allowing new dialogue options.

And this is just for conversations themselves, you could come up with even more options depending on the main characters looks and skills.
