I think I finally made something to communicate how scared something I saw underwater made me.
Ready for a little story? It was a summer day and me and my family had gone to the river for swimming and sun. I got my goggles on (because I liked diving underwater and looking at fish and other things. I even found somebody's ring once!) and began to dive in different spots around the river. It was all well and good, saw some cool fish.
There was one part of the river bed we were at where an old tree stump had gotten stuck in one of the deeper areas, nearly completely submerged. Curious what I'd find there, I took a deep breath and dived under the water's surface.
My eyes had to adjust for a moment for me to see properly, but the first thing I thought I saw was a massive, malformed skull half-buried in the riverbed. This is the part, as you can probably tell, that scared me the most. The moss and plants that got stuck around the edges didn't help the visual either....
Long story short, the root ball of the stump was tilted over under the water and the combined lighting, shape of the roots and plants, and the way the shadows were set made it look like a giant skull to me.
