Based on The Edge of Dawn (Seasons of Warfare) by Takeru Kanazaki and Buttercup from Fire Emblem: Three Houses
The Edge of Dawn is possibly the most iconic song in Three Houses, especially considering that it has two leitmotifs that appear all over the rest of the soundtrack. I’ve already covered two versions of it, Apex of the World, which is more orchestral and bombastic, and the softer version from the credits that’s pure pop music. Seasons of Warfare meets somewhere in the middle. One thing I will say is that it repeatedly uses a IVmaj7 - V - vi7 - iii7 chord progression, which is quite close to the IVmaj7 - V7 - iii7 - vi progression so common in J-Pop. I also came to realize that I was wrong, this song is in fact in a minor key, it just sits on the flat 3rd a lot in the chorus. For this cover I made a set of lyrics based on the original English translation I think flows with the music better. I’ve come to learn that this song is strongly connected to Edelgard, the leader of the Black Eagles house from the game, so her house’s banner was used as the image here.
