Based on God Shattering Star (Rain) by Takeru Kanazaki, Hiroki Morishita, and Rei Kondoh from Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I still like the covers in Fire Ensemble Vol. I, but looking back I could have done better, especially with the final boss themes from Three Houses. They were originally one long piece, one of my first, which is why they’re edited down and all have the same instruments. I wanted to give each of these amazing songs a full cover now that I know more of what I’m doing. God Shattering Star needs no introduction at this point, it’s one of the most epic songs from any video game. In this new cover I wanted to make it more sweeping and huge than my first, with brass, strings, and orchestral percussion. I still wanted a prog metal edge though (this song takes well to rock), so I included an electric bass, overdrive guitar, and the “orchestra hit” synth to really boost the impactful moments. This is the final boss theme for the Verdant Wind route, where Byleth sides with Claude and his Golden Deer House, so that was the banner I picked for the visual.
