In the mages guild, you're dealing with other spellcasters who likely have a reflect spell on them. Hurting myself with any elemental, paralysis, and/or other types of spells. Magic is great in the game, but I haven't messed with it enough to know if a spell would work on removing any buffs that some of these mages would have cast on themselves. Also check the community post for an update relatively soon.
