I'm not someone who makes hasty generalizations, but, this might be the beginning of the end for error code 20102...

I got the error code 20102 way back in October of 2009, and I've had to use codes or other modifications to bypass the error. Well for some reason, whether it started at the beginning of this year or just today, I am able to connect to WiFi just fine without the need of any bypass codes and/or modifications. Has this happened to anyone else? I am not sure if this has affected everyone (or at least most people) who has gotten 20102 before.

And the best part about this is that I am able to go back into my legitimate license. I haven't been online on that license since 2009, and the footage you see here is the first time I raced online with it in years. I was completely shocked when I got a chance to see my outdated friend roster too! :P

If you have error code 20102 (or at least the last time you checked), try to connect online without using any bypass codes and/or modifications. Start the game straight up from the Disc Channel. Do you still have 20102? Leave comments saying if it did or did not work. I know I'm not the only one that had this happen to...

UPDATE: I believe I know what is going on. I've been told that Nintendo has done this in the past. Actually, a few years ago... around the Christmas time of 2009. Nintendo lifted the ban off of everyone who got 20102 before a certain period. It didn't affect me though. And now, it has happened again. So, this ban should have been lifted off of everyone who got 20102 before the end of 2011. However, just like before, 20102 did NOT go away. I believe it's still possible to get 20102, but I think it will be less likely because Nintendo has not done any ban waves in over a year. So, don't think this is the permanent end of 20102. Think of it as a second chance. ;)

UPDATE 2/10/2012: It seems that that the error code is back in full force. It seems to be that a new ban wave started up. This ban wave is affecting people who have been banned before, who have hacked recently, and even people who play custom tracks using Riivolution. I've also heard that using the current ban bypass codes aren't working (not 100% sure though). This ban wave didn't affect me (most likely because of my modified main.dol ISO that I use), but my legit license has 20102 again. Ah well, at least I got a nice look at my original roster. So anyway, just be aware that 20102 has not disappeared. Why it went away for a little bit, not positive...
