The sci-fi horror movie Annihilation, based on the 2014 novel of the same name, is not just a movie about a group of explorers who enter a mysterious quarantined zone of mutating plants and animals.

The movie also touches on themes of depression and grief, while it was also refreshing to see a sci-fi horror film being led by a strong female cast. Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriquez, and Tessa Thompson are reason enough to watch Annihilation.
