6The Farmer was Replaced is a new indie farming automation game that utilizes python programming in a way that is approachable for non-programmers and satisfying for programming pros alike.
The game revolves around unlocking various plantable objects and upgrading their yields at the cost of the crops. Once you complete the tech tree you unlock the leaderboard and are able to reset your progress to try at improving your programs to be the most efficient possible.
If you are into idle/tycoon games and are interested in learning python programming in a fun way this game is great.
In this series we will be playing through the tech tree and providing a coding tutorial for the game. This is done not only to help guide players through the game, but also to help provide an example of how you could write a program to play the game. I know how to program in over 8 languages and currently utilize this knowledge in my work, so I hope that I can provide some insight into python programming for beginners. I am in no way the best programmer in the world so be sure to drop a comment if you know of a different or better way to do something in game. I always love to hear from my viewers on how to improve and the same goes for programming advice.
In this episode we show how to create a program to solve mazes and gather gold automatically. We also integrate the maze function into our primary call program so we can add Gold to the list of infinitely produced materials. By the end of the episode we are able to automatically solve the maze and open the chest to gain gold in game. This episode also features a decent amount of debugging which I left in for your viewing enjoyment.
