83The Final Shape is Destiny 2’s Final Chance #shorts. I’ve been playing the series for over 9 years and seen all of the many ups and downs. From the good in Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and Witch Queen. As well as the Trials of Osiris revamp, armor and gun changes, and the continually evolving world we have come to love. But also the bad in Lighfall, Curse of Osiris, and Season of Plunder. Not to mention sunsetting, broken story arcs, and many worthless end game rewards.
To be fair, I have seen plenty of people come and go during the last 9 years calling it a dead game that has an uncaring company. But this is the first time in a long time that I really feel that we are at a crossroads that there is no turning back. I believe the Final Shape has to be amazing, bring answers to most of our story questions, and set a good tone for the next saga of Destiny or it will be abandoned by its veterans and dwindle into obscurity.
So I stopped to ask the critical question: What does that look like? And the answer always comes back to trust. If I can trust that Bungie will make thrilling new content with incentivized rewards that won’t power creep the last year of content, that’s a win. But how? I don’t know.
