Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies was the first new Phoenix Wright game in five years. Fans and critics alike praised Phoenix's new 3DS adventure, and now it's time to hear what the GameCola Podcast Crew has to say!

Join staff writers Diana Gray and Michael Gray, as well as movie reviewer John Rizzi, as they talk about Dual Destinies at length!

Intro (00:00 - 6:42)

- We start in classic GameCola style by getting off topic.
- Surprise! We like this game.
- We never used the new "notes" feature in this game.

Case 1 (6:43 - 18:28)

- It's a good intro to the game.
- Why did no one ever talk about the switch used to turn on the bomb?
- Gaspen Payne was wasted.
- Phoenix's big entrance was cool.
- Juniper has a bad memory.
- The Judge gets a bum rap for taking away Phoenix's badge.

Case 2 (18:29 - 37:37)

- Detective Fullbright is enthusiastic.
- Nobody liked Phineas Filch and his Tanooki personality.
- Our reaction to Jinxie ranged from "meh" to "eugh".
- The 3D in this game is great.
- Everyone besides Michael likes Blackquill.
- The preview video for this case was incredibly misleading.
- Blackquill is supposed to be British?!
- Apollo is obsessed with personal hygiene now.

Case 3 (37:38 - 50:07)

- Why is the third case always filler?
- We agree Klavier was the best part of the case! After this, we immediately criticize Klavier's part.
- Diana figured out Robin's secret ahead of time, due to the gender-neutral naming. (Clearly, this is a shoutout to GameCola Staff Writer Robyn Tyrfing.)
- We do bad voice acting.
- Why did this game NOT resolve the Apollo/Trucy cliffhanger at the end of Apollo Justice?
- What does this case mean for Apollo and Trucy's relationship?
- Hugh needs to find a better place for his friendship bracelet.

Case 4 (50:08 - 57:30)

- Apollo finally gets some character development!
- The explanation behind Apollo's eyepatch was much better than the explanation behind Athena's earmuffs.
- We go through all the characters, and Aura is the only one we don't like.

Case 5 (57:31 - end)

- We start off by saying how much we LOVE this case.
- The next hour is nothing but us complaining about how bad the case is.
- Athena keeps secrets from Phoenix for no good reason.
- Diana wanted more from Miles Edgeworth.
- Basically, the Drunken Hobo Phoenix plotline never happened.
- Maya's letter to Phoenix was okay.
- Apollo is a flat character, but we want to like him.
- Would Larry Butz make a good father?
- Who is a bigger stalker: Phoenix or Athena?
- It would have been nice to see Widget more than twice.
- It is just a coincidence that all the major characters happen to have deep personal connections to the case.
- It feels like the writers guessed what black psyche locks are.
- Michael does a dramatic reenactment of the black psyche locks scene from Apollo Justice.
- While discussing the Phantom, we come up with three different ways he could have avoided the death-defying leap.
- We discuss the three bad endings to the game, but we can't figure out when the third bad ending occurs.
- This is the first game not to have the cornered theme.
- Back to Case 3, we really disliked dress-up time with Robin and Athena.
- Apollo claims that he is "investigating" while he's offscreen during cases 4 and 5. In reality, he spent his time trying to find a girlfriend.
- Trucy in this game is just like Flora from the Professor Layton series.
- We don't like region-locking at all.
