The whole "shooting at a boss way larger than you" is very reminiscent of Painkiller, but Painkiller had the advantages of boss fights being shorter, on cleaner terrain, and you being more agile, the latter partly because you're not stuck inside a golem magic robot... thing.
As stated previously, Necrovision can be described as "janky" and "sloppy." It's the kind of game that would require a certain fluidity and precision to its movement and combat that it just doesn't have. It's not actively offensive, but it doesn't really feel *good*. I bring up Bulletstorm and the Doom mod Demonsteele, but FEAR is kind of in the same boat as well with how it handles melee. If it cut down on the aggressive ragdolling and let you run in every direction (maybe without worrying about stamina once you got the gauntlet), that would probably be a good start.
