11sorry, some things I didn't mention are:
Brittany and Maddie have a father, but he is always working
Alexa and Damien (Maddie's friends) have been friends for a long time and met in first grade
Another thing is Damien's crush on Zack was developing over time, Zack and Maddie Have been in the same schools since 8th grade (they're in 10th grade) so Damien has seen him around the schools for 2 years, also Damien isn't a stalker-ish person, he has just had a lot of classes with him in the previous grades, and saw him around a lot and overhears a lot of conversations on accident, but seeing how nice Zack was, he fell for him
Also Penelope always has contacts in and does her blush with makeup, her hair is also dyed
Brittany and co. (Star and Silvia) picked on Maddie during middle school when they passed by each other and Brittany had sleepovers with Star and Silvia, and Maddie got picked on then
