The H&K MP5A3 submachine gun was the standard issue submachine gun used by Stargate Command for the first four years of the program, and is occasionally employed by some teams. Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter used it as their standard main firearms during those years, sharing common 9mm NATO ammunition with M9 pistols Jack and Daniel Jackson carried as sidearms. Although primitive compared to Goa'uld weapons, they were capable of piercing Jaffa armor, after a few shots.
