The Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai (百物語怪談会) is a collection of 100 ghostly tales that was told in ancient Japan. A single candle would be lit for each person involved and each person would take turns telling ghost stories. After the tale, they would blow out their candle. With each candle that went out, the veil between our world and the spiritual world would get thinner and thinner. That is until only a single candle protects them from the ghosts that would be attracted by the tales. Only the bravest would blow out the final candle.
