The Infinite Gold Chest in Dragon Warrior - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
3,054In Dragon Warrior for the NES (or Dragon Quest for the Famicom) there's a way to earn "infinite gold" from the treasure chests in Tantegel Castle.
To perform this glitch, you will first need a Magic Key. These are sold in the northwest corner of the town of Rimuldar. You can make it to Rimuldar as early as Level 4 if you run from every battle a resonable amount of luck (I guess it's possible to get there at Level 1, but you need 53 gold to purchase a Magic Key).
Once you have a Magic Key, the meat of the glitch is fairly simple. Head to the Mountain Cave, which is in the mountains west of Tantegel. Inside the Mountain Cave, open two treasure chests. In my opinion, it's easiest to take the Torch and the Fighter's Ring, since there chests are adjacent to each other, and they're easy to find. Use the maps linked below if you need help navigating.
After taking two chests inside the Mountain Cave, die in a battle. This will warp you back to the throne room in Tantegel Castle. Now, walk downstairs to the treasure room (the one with four treasure chests in it) and use the Magic Key to open the door. Take all the chests in this room. If you performed the glitch properly, you'll notice that the final treasure chest does not disappear when you TAKE it. Now, you can TAKE the gold from this chest over and over until you reach maximum gold! The game caps you at 65,535 gold, but that will get you some pretty dope equipment, especially if you've performed this glitch early on in the game.
