The Last of us 2 – what an amazing, exciting game! The story is just breathtaking and so emotional! The landscaping looks so real and was designed so lovingly and true to the detail! Our dear planet earth is just so beautiful!
Joel sings “Future Days” from Pearl Jam on guitar for Ellie, and later she plays “Take on me” by A-ha for Dina, just goose bumps! The music is extraordinary like in Part 1, Gustavo Santaolalla again did an awesome job! The review with Joel and Ellie at the Wyoming Museum was so touching especially the scene with the staged rocket launch!
It`s very moving to see how Ellie grew up and has developed as a person in this brutal, unforgiving environment but still be able to smile and to find love! This game shows us in a great way how small the difference between good and evil can be! Why is one murder justified and the other is not?! It`s an important lesson to learn that even the people we love and glorify make mistakes and are far from perfect! Joel and Ellie became our heroes, our idols, and no matter what they did or said, we accepted it. Every human being is capable of horrible things when his life is in danger, or stupid things like panic-buys of toilet paper as we saw it in March 2020!


The murder of Joel was shocking and left us helpless and speechless, so of course you hate Abby at first with a passion! But when we see her point, when we play her and walk in her shoes, our minds change. We develop understanding and compassion and even cheer for her and suffer with her! We judge and condemn people in seconds instead of taking some time to understand them and their behavior. It`s easier to hate and despise other people then to get to know them! But books like “The Count of Monte Cristo”, “Moby Dick” and the movie “Nevada Smith” with Steve McQueen show us that revenge isn`t always easy!


The walkthrough with Abby in her town was impressive. The review with her and Owen in the Aquarium was nice. The dialogue on the boat where Owen is talking about that he is tired of fighting and killing was very emotional! The scene where Abby almost got her intestines cut out by the Scars was cruel! The walk with her and Lev at the skyscraper and inside the buildings was interesting and funny. “See the good side of your fear!” The murder of Joel didn`t brought Abby peace but with Yara and Lev she found something worth fighting for and was able to let go of her past. The first big confrontation with Abby and Ellie in the theatre was overwhelming and so emotional! You are so conflicted between them and the fight is so brutal and merciless! Luckily, Abby didn`t kill Dina, thanks to Lev! Puuuh!


We then watch this peaceful scene on the farm and think it`s going to end now but Ellie doesn`t find peace and has to face Abby again! Meanwhile, Abby and Lev are searching for the Fireflies and got brutally beaten up by the Rattlers.


The final fight between Ellie and Abby is so tragic and sad! Both are so weak, so emaciated, only shadows of themselves at that moment and it hurts so bad to see them fighting against each other in this ruthless and savagely battle! But then luckily, Ellie decides to let Abby live and she disappears with Lev into the Ocean.


The end dialogue between Joel and Ellie is just heartbreaking!
What a game, what a story, what an experience, what an emotional roller coaster ride! Neil Druckmann and his team did an awesome job and they were very courageous and bold with their decisions! Ellie and Abby are both strong, deep and complex characters who grew up in this harsh, brutal world. They both did things that weren`t very nice but still they both were able to preserve and retain their kindness, their humanity and their enjoyment of life! And that means a lot, even in our real world at this current global crisis!
