Once I got what I needed, I ended up inadvertently doing things in a much more speedy fashion. So speedy in fact I missed a few rooms and an optional key, lol! But don't worry, I go back in to clean them out this same part after the boss.

Also, the quake apparently opens up a door, not changes the dungeon layout. I think what I was thinking of was that it was like Dungeon 7 of Link's Awakening (Eagle's Tower) with those pillars.
