I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation. For 3DS games, I am testing them first at 2x resolution, which actually looks really nice and crisp on the phone's display.
The Citra MMJ emulator is branch of the popular Citra emulator. It works a bit better on Android devices than the official builds. However, at the time of testing, a lot of games freeze/crash (both with MMJ and the official Citra releases) when playing on Android.
I am using a PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth with this emulator. For games that require you to use a touch screen, you can just touch your actual screen too.
I am using the phone's built-in video screen recorder. Note that it can have a small impact on performance, so if a game appears slightly jerky but the FPS remains solid, it typically plays smooth as butter on the phone when not recording.
