The Messenger One Minute Game Review | Here's why you NEED to play

Today’s one-minute game review is on The Messenger by Sabotage Studio.
The Messenger is an absolute masterclass in all that is well and good with retro-inspired action platformers.
Clearly taking inspiration from the likes of Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi, The Messenger manages to keep one foot planted in the 8- and 16-bit eras of yesteryear while also feeling fresh, modern, and extremely challenging.
This game is full of charm and the dialogue is overtly self-aware, frequently breaking the 4th wall in hilarious ways.
And it even manages to flip-flop between 8-bit and 16-bit graphical styles in a way that is both satisfying to the player, and fateful to the story being told.
I won’t spoil this in a one-minute review, but The Messenger even manages to fundamentally change in some genre-bending ways in the last half of the game.
I could gush for hours about this game, but that wouldn’t exactly be on brand. So, all I’m saying is…. PLAY THE MESSENGER. You won’t regret it.
