Hey brave explorers of the uncharted territory hidden below the break. Today's we're going to be discussing the strengths of the Battle Royale genre in general, looking at Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (henceforth Pub G) as a case study.

We'll try to discern what sets the game apart, and how, with its many doors to open and 4x4s to crash, the game encourages a psychological playstyle. A meta-game develops as you and your enemies try to outsmart each other. Double bluffs and traps are common, as are cheap tricks (including my personal favourite the boat hideout routine). But, at the heart of it all, is the fact that the island allows for all this while all the while guiding you steadily inwards, towards confrontation.
