The skies of Volcano Valley are choked with smoke, but with the sun blocked out, the Skull Gang found an excellent place to begin their invasion of Kirby’s dimension.

I appreciate that Daroach both establishes this slight backstory for the area, and foreshadows the boss as a gluttonous pig.

En route to Necrodeus’s lieutenant, we embark on the most unexpected voyage into space since Life of Brian.

The “haunted catacombs” and “volcano” level themes don’t tend to overlap, but Kirby: Mass Attack keeps the creativity and fun, unique level ideas coming. Usually I dislike lava-themed levels, but Volcano Valley is probably my favorite area in a Kirby game since--well, all of Kirby 64.
