The Problem With Esports
Video games are not a tough sell to kids, or to anyone really. They’re an incredibly fun, immersive, and challenging way to engage with art. Games are without a doubt the biggest innovation of our time and the defining artistic movement of the 21st century. So, it makes sense that everyone, and kids especially, want to play video games all the time.
Games are more successful than ever, and they’re bigger than ever, too. More and more people are able to support themselves as professional gamers, or even just as gamers who like playing a lot of games. With this, there has been a massive influx of kids aspiring to be streamers and professional gamers. As parents decide how they want their kid to best spend their time, it’s important for them to weigh gaming’s ability to later on turn into a career.
As far as esports go, there has been no better time in history to be a professional gamer. Today, we’re going to talk about the history of esports, the difference between pro-gamers and pro-athletes, and what major obstacles esports still needs to hurdle.
